About Us

The Directors of TravelExtra wish to inform you of the new arrangements that have made in regard to keeping TravelExtra open and functioning as you already experience.

With effect on Wednesday the 29th November 2017 TravelExtra will be moving across the road into the Hull of Disabled People premises on Ferensway. This means that all facilities for disabled people will be available in one premise and under one umbrella making it much easier for disabled people to get appropriate support and advice on the full range of issues and problems. There is also a very pleasant Cafe serving home-made food within the premises, along with services such as volunteers willing to do gardening, house painting and wall papering etc.

In regard to TravelExtra our method of collecting you from and returning you to your bus, car will continue, or direct allocating of a scooter when you visit  Hull Council of Disabled People premises will continue, as will the current charges of £10 per year membership and £3 each time your hire out a scooter.

We look forward to seeing you and your continuing membership and hiring of TravelExtra scooters and other equipment.

Kind regards

Directors of TravelExtra.

Opened in 2009, Travel Extra is conveniently located for disabled passengers travelling into Hull by bus, train or taxi.
It serves customers from Hull and the East Riding as well as those from across the country who visit Hull to go shopping, see friends and family, and visit city centre attractions.
Around 200 mobility aids are hired out each month, and from just £3 a day customers can use them Monday – Friday from 9am – 4pm to travel anywhere in an area covering St Stephen’s shopping centre, Ferensway, the Museums Quarter, The Deep, Hull Arena, Kingston Retail Park, and Hull Royal Infirmary.
As well as publicising the service and keeping membership records up to date,  staff show customers how to operate the scooters – which travel at a safe 4mph – and oversee the maintenance of the battery-powered machines, ensuring they are fully recharged after every hire.
TravelExtra Mobility staff currently serve customers aged from 17 to 93 who are given the mobility they need to visit the city center and its attractions.
